Master Thesis The Reflection of in Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust to the Art of Photography(2016) Akbala, Nevra; Kahyaoğlu, MehmetBeing regarded as one of the most significant writers of the twentieth century, Marcel Proust (1871-1922) is a leading representative of modernism. The present study aims to analyse his masterpiece Kayıp Zamanın İzinde in terms of Proust's literary vision and the art of photography. By determining the touch points between these two disciplines of art and establishing an interdisciplinary bond, it is intended to realise a new artistic practice. In accordance with this aim, the first chapter of this study includes an analysis of partially autobiographic Kayıp Zamanın İzinde in consideration of Marcel Proust's life and works . The second chapter of the study focuses on Proust's policy of creating a novel in the context of his distinctive grounding of the terms time, place and memory . The third chapter of the study analyses how Proust used the art of photography after concluding that the connection between literature and philosopy in poetics evokes interest and inspiration for the art of photography. In the last part of the study, an interdisciplinary practice is presented in the light of Kayıp Zamanın İzinde and terms of time, place and memory.
