2015 HAZİRAN VE KASIM SEÇİMLERİNDE SİYASAL EĞİLİM: YENİ BİR KAMUOYU ÖLÇÜMLEME ARACI OLARAK TWİTTER

Günümüzde yeni neslin düşünce ve fikirlerini ifade etme siyasal alanda görüşlerini beyan etme çevresindekileri politik hareketlere teşvik etme seçilmiş siyasi liderleri sosyal medya üzerinden takip etme konularında inisiyatif alabildiğine ilişkin bulgular elde edilmektedir. Bu kapsamda 2015 Haziran seçimlerine ilişkin 1011 Twitter kullanıcısının mesajları incelenerek siyasal eğilimi belirlenmeye çalışılmış ve seçilen örneklem üzerinden 364 kullanıcın Twitter mesajları 2015 Kasım seçimleri çerçevesinde tekrar analiz edilerek siyasal eğilimdeki değişiklikler ortaya konmuştur. Her ne kadar ülkemizde var olan genelde sosyal medya bu çalışma kapsamında Twitter kullanım oranı ve kitlesi seçmen kitlesi ile birebir örtüşmediği bulgusu söz konusuysa da bilimsel araştırma çabalarının bu alanda yaygınlaşması adına kullanıcıların Twitter hesaplarındaki siyasal eğilimi tespit edilmesi gelecek adına önemli bir adım olarak görülmektedir. Bu bağlamda 2015 Haziran seçimi çerçevesinde örneklemin % 68.2'sinin politik eğiliminin saptandığı görülmüştür ki bu veri Türkiye'de 11.6 milyon kullanıcısı olan sosyal medya mecrası Twitter'ın gelecekte kamuoyu yoklamaları ve politik eğilim saptamaları için alternatif bir kaynak olabileceğine ilişkin umut vadetmektedir. 2015 Kasım seçimlerinde aynı 1011 Twitter kullanıcısının 364'üne uygulanan analiz aracılığıyla ise son seçim döneminde siyasal eğilimde saptanan oynaklığın seçmenin bir kısmını Twitter üzerinden politik söylemde bulunmamaya diğer kısmını ise daha aktif ve keskin politik tutum geliştirmeye ittiği görülmüştür
Supporting Healthcare Executive Managers' Decisions Through Dashboards

Information visualisation plays an important role for executives in order to drive business effectively and efficiently. Dashboard design which is one of the best tools of visualization to meet the information needs at adequate levels is becoming more important parallel to advances in information processing technologies. This study aims to provide a conceptual framework for developing a dashboard for executives. Healthcare management was chosen to demonstrate the methodology of research design data gathering and visualisation examples. Results show that the study is applicable to other areas as well to meet the information requirements of top and mid-level managers.

The day of the week effects in stockmarkets of countries with predominantly Muslim populations

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the day of the week (DoW) effect in stock markets of 19 countries with a predominantly Muslim population over the world. Design/methodology/approach - The empirical research was conducted by using the descriptive statistical analysis and Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) method in 19 stock markets for the past decade. Findings - The findings in this paper present the evidence of the DoW effect in the majority of the stock markets analyzed. The findings were also consistent with the results of some previous studies regarding the DoW effect in various countries but some were found to be surprisingly different. Research limitations/implications - This study puts forward the view that investors may consider DoW diversities for their investment decisions regarding the countries with predominantly Muslim population. The authors conclude that additional factors affecting Islamic countries' stock markets such as geographic proximity trading days market capitalization and ethnicity should be considered as well. Originality/value - Researchers have shown an increased interest in calendar anomalies in stock exchanges of some individual Arab countries. This study contributes to the literature by examining Muslim country stock markets collectively.
