KovalSustainability concerns are becoming pressing in the hospitality sector which requires incorporating the green innovation approach to yield excellent business performance and preserve the environment. However the drivers that underpin green innovation have yet to be comprehensively established. This study aims to examine the drivers of green innovation and investigate top management support as a moderator. Data were sourced from 121 eco-friendly hotels which comprised 276 respondents analyzed with SEM-PLS. The results demonstrated that embedding environmental strategies significantly affected top management support and green innovation. In addition the results notably denoted that top management support mediated and moderated the relationship between environmental strategies and green innovation. This paper also discusses the theoretical and managerial implications in further detail. © 2023 Elsevier B.V. However few studies have been conducted to examine the drivers of green innovation i.e. green human resource management environmental strategy environmental legitimacy towards environmental performance in the context of hospitality industry especially in developing countries. This study aims to examine the relationship between green human resource management environmental strategy environmental legitimacy green innovation and environmental performance in the hospitality industry both in direct and mediation relationships. Data were collected from hotel and restaurant managers in Bali Indonesia. Smart-PLS was used to examine the validity and reliability of the proposed structural equation modeling. The findings of the present study revealed that green human resource management significantly influences environmental strategy legitimacy green innovation and environmental performance. Furthermore environmental strategy legitimacy and green innovation mediate the relationship between GHRM and environmental performance. This study contributes to theoretical and practical implications and provides valuable suggestions especially for managers in the hospitality industry for environmental conservation. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
