The yield estimation for different cotton varieties in grams in breeding studies has a great importance for the determination of superior cultivars to be commercialized. Due to the cost and excessive time consumption typical of traditional methods alternative ways for cotton yield estimation have been investigated over the years. This paper proposes an automated system for cotton yield prediction based on color images obtained by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Two replicational field experiments including three different cotton genotypes were conducted at May Seed R&D station in Torbali Izmir Turkey. Three different planting patterns including three four and six rows respectively in ten-meter wide areas were used as experimental plots. The ground-truth yield values for a total of six hundred planted areas were obtained by weighing the harvested cotton bolls after field images were taken. Achieving an absolute difference of no more than 350 grams for 114 out of 120 planted areas which were randomly selected only for testing purposes indicates that the CNN can effectively capture important features related to cotton yield from the field images obtained by the UAV. The combination of drone technology with reliable CNN models holds great potential for optimizing agricultural practices improving agricultural productivity and reducing operational costs. © 2024 Elsevier B.V. Question answering systems are one of these real life systems that communicate directly with the end users, understand user intention and generate answers. End users do not want to care about any structural query language or vocabulary of the knowledge base where the point of the problem arises. In this study, a question-answering framework that converts Turkish natural language input into SPARQL queries in geographic domain is proposed. Additionally, a novel Turkish ontology which covers Chapter 6 of the geography lesson named 'Spatial Synthesis: Turkey' in secondary school in 10th grade curriculum, is developed to be used as linked data provider. Later on, a literature gap in Turkish question answering systems, which utilizes linked data in geographical domain, is addressed. Hybrid system architecture that combines natural language processing techniques with linked data technologies to generate answers is also represented. Further related research areas are also suggested. Tekinerdogan , A.H. DogruWith the developing technology and increased demand on practical usage of knowledge users require to interact with systems by using natural language. Researchers discover the necessity of natural language queries should be converted to machine understandable format to meet the requirement of users. The necessity of the conversion triggered the researches on studies on question answering systems that is one of the systems mostly interact with natural language queries. For question answering systems that utilizes structural knowledge sources understanding user intention accurately consists of the processes of natural language processing representing the user intention and forming structured query to generate the answer. A technique and an architecture to convert natural language query to ontology query language by utilizing from both linguistic and semantic technologies are proposed in this study. Automatic conversion of an unstructured natural language query to a structured ontology query language SPARQL and process of producing answer over linked data are explained in the proposed technique and architecture. A different approach other than the related studies is followed in terms of defining a “Query Semantization” layer in the proposed architecture and developing a natural language aware ontology for the technique proposed. Contribution to the literature is expected by combining natural language processing technique and semantic web technologies with a different approach. © 2019 Elsevier B.V. Two social housing projects in _Izmir are chosen as case studies as an initial step to be developed toward a potentially international digital platform. The theoretical premises of the project are based on the renowned cultural theorist Henri Lefebvre's Spatial Triad which distinguishes between representations of space representational spaces or spaces of representation and spatial practices. Following this framework the collected data are organized in three sections which are reflected in the digital interface. These are respectively titled 'implementations' which contains architectural drawings and visual recordings of interviews with the chief architect of the projects, 'perceptions' which includes related texts that are scanned from Web sites newspapers journals and conference proceedings, and 'lived experiences' which contains photographs and visual records of on-site interviews with the users of the two housing estates. Users of the digital interface are enabled access to data in each category by means of choosing one of eighty-three related keywords. The latter are derived from the digital analyses of discursive material. By enabling the comparison of the sections of spatial data for each settlement and between the two settlements the digital platform has the potential to inform decision-making processes in future social housing projects. © 2018 Elsevier B.V. RBAC (Role Based Access Control – Rol Tabanlı Erişim Denetimi) ise, rol tabanlı erişim denetimini sağlamaktadır. Conference Object OWL ontology development for destination marketing(Springer-Verlag Berlin, 2011) Murat Komesli; Tuncay Ercan; Gökçe Özdemir; Ercan, Tuncay; Özdemir, Gökçe; Komesli, MuratInternet as a marketing medium in the tourism industry is a very valuable destination marketing tool. Deterioration of the tangible evidence of architectural heritage compromises not only its visibility in the heritage site but also its presence in memory. Converging survived features and digitally produced representations of the heritage AR applications in mobile devices provide the memory of the site with endurance however what is remembered immensely depends on how the heritage is digitally represented on screen. Conceived as a case study for the method of analysis derived from classical memorizing technique of the art of memory the '[AR]temis' project reported in this article aimed to get insights into the effects of the representational qualities of augmented architectural heritage on remembering and also into future AR projects developed for architectural heritage sites with its original method of analysis to inform design decisions. The research project involved the development of the method of art of augmented memory the AR application as well as questionnaires and interviews with the respondents' on-site tests of the application. The results of this analysis show that the decisions regarding the digital representation of architectural heritage in AR applications entail not only the visual qualities of the heritage per se but also how the actual site of memory is visualized on screen.
