Every event communicated in the media, which shapes the perception of the society through the reality and meaningfulness it produces, is presented as realities to the public with its built-in narratives and often emphasized aspects of the event. In this thesis, the ideological reflection of the reality through the contents of the media in the news texts and the presentation of the social events of the media have been examined in detail in the context of the mine accidents. This thesis aims to reveal the problems of the representation of mining incidents in the media in terms of meaning, representation and reconstruction of reality. In this thesis, all the mining accident reports which resulted in death between 1949-2016 in Hürriyet and Cumhuriyet newspapers were examined through the first day news of the newspapers and were selected as samples. In accordance with the aims of the study; the frequency of use of source person, photo usage, distribution of photographs and words used in describing accidents and use of language and discourse in news were determined according to the newspapers between 1949-1980 and 1981-2016. A total of 424 mining accidents have been subject to quantitative and qualitative content analysis. As a result of the findings, it can be said that although two newspapers have differences in publishing policy, they generally use close reporting practices when they report mining accidents.
