Association for Shell and Spatial Structures, 2019-03-01) Feray Maden; Yenal Akgün; Gökhan Kiper; Şebnem Gür; Müjde Yar; Koray Korkmaz; Korkmaz, Koray; Yar, MÜJde; Kiper, GÖKhan; Akgun, Yenal; Maden, Feray; Gur, SebnemWhen the existing literature on the research of scissor structures is thoroughly investigated it is seen that different researchers use different terminologies and classifications especially for the definition of the primary units and the motion type. Some of the studies define the whole geometry based on the geometric properties of the primary scissor units and the unit lines while some other studies define it according to the loops. All these studies use different names for similar elements. This article aims to review the literature on the classification and terminology of scissor structures and represent the state of art on the studies. Tables are represented showing all approaches in the literature. In addition the article criticizes the missing points of each terminology and definition and proposes some new terminology. In order to arrive at this aim different definitions of the primary scissor units and motion types used in key studies in the literature are investigated thoroughly. With several examples it is demonstrated that naming the scissor units according to the resulting motion type might be misleading and it is better to specify the motion type for the whole structure. A classification for transformation of planar curves is presented. © 2019 Elsevier B.V. The US and the Western Europe seem to be falling victim to a debt spiral in which market turmoil is aggravating deterioration in the real economy. The crisis which has its roots in the closing years of the 20th century became apparent in 2007 and has exposed pervasive weaknesses in financial industry regulation and the global financial system. The subprime mortgage crisis is resulting in a sea of litigation presenting novel and significant legal problems. These issues will affect a universe of potential defendants including traditional lenders investment banks and investors. This article seeks to provide a practical understanding of how modifications to the legal and accounting regulations governing the banking value chain encouraged fragmentation and outsourcing connected with tile process of mortgage securitization. Our study will help to assess legal ramifications and litigation trends associated with the fallout with characteristics of emerging mortgage markets. We observe that in the instance of subprime mortgage woes there is no single entity or individual to be point out instead this mess is a collective creation of the world's central banks homeowners lenders credit rating agencies legal and accounting regulations underwriters hedge funds investment behavior.Article A Feminist Critique of Femvertising: The Example of Dove's My Hair Is beyond the Rules Campaign(ANKARA UNIV FAC COMMUNICATION, 2021-05-31) Burcu Dabak Ozdemir; Ozdemir, Burcu DabakThis study uses Dove's (Turkish) TV advertisement My Hair Is beyond the Rules to develop a feminist critique of the new advertising method known as femvertising. The study begins by identifying four common points shared by post-feminist and femvertising discourse: (1) love yourself or love your body (2) your decisions are important (3) trust yourself and (4) buy to feel good. The study then critiques these four points from a feminist perspective: The first point contradicts feminist body politics. The second point is a result of neoliberal individualism and contradicts the idea of feminist gathering. The third point misappropriates feminist political and ideological concepts by placing them into an apolitical cultural climate. And the last point embraces commodity feminism.Article A Method Implementation in the Intermedia Agenda-Setting Theory Research: The Case of Hurriyet Online and Twitter(ANKARA UNIV FAC COMMUNICATION, 2017-05-30) Gizem Melek; Melek, GizemUnderstanding the relationship between the mainstream media and social networks in a correct and healthy way has become increasingly important today. However as in the manufacturing industry a 'new order' is emerging for the way the construction industry works today. This study aims to present the transformation of construction supply chains (CSCs) in Industry 4.0 by considering each supply chain stage separately where the main purpose is to determine the criteria for the integration of the CSC with the Industry 4.0 perspective. A literature review and a Delphi study were conducted and thirteen criteria are proposed to show the integration of Industry 4.0 aspects and CSC stages. Furthermore one of the multi -criteria decision -making (MCDM) methods the Best -Worst method is used to prioritize the criteria for guiding future implications during the transformation of construction supply chains. Among the six CSC stages the design stage is the most important from the Industry 4.0 perspective. In addition client collaboration by ICT (BIM) during the design phase is the most important sub -factors' overall rank. Although there is a limited number of studies on the CSC there are no empirical studies addressing the current digital age approach. As a result there is a significant gap in the construction literature and a thorough assessment of the building supply chain in an Industry 4.0 setting is lacking. To the best of the authors' knowledge this is the first study to illustrate the transformation of CSCs in Construction 4.0 by looking at each supply chain stage separately.Article A NOVEL FRAMEWORK TO EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCE OF RESPONSIVE KINETIC SHADING DEVICES(ZNACK PUBLISHING HOUSE, 2019) Mustafa Teksoy; Onur DursunDetermining control parameters of kinetic shading devices introduces a dynamic problem to designers which can best be tackled by computational tools. It is seen from the results of CST Studio Suite simulation that PCHM-SIW bandstop filter has a bandwidth of 2.85 GHz and a center frequency of 4.26 GHz. The frequency change rate of the center frequency between simulation and measurement is 7.02 % where it is just 3.76 % for the deviation in bandwidth. The results of the simulation and those of the measurement are close to each other. These results converge to ideal analytical results.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1A Pattern Mining Approach for Improving Speech Emotion Recognition(WORLD SCIENTIFIC PUBL CO PTE LTD, 2022-11) Umut Avci; Avci, UmutSpeech-driven user interfaces are becoming more common in our lives. To interact with such systems naturally and effectively machines need to recognize the emotional states of users and respond to them accordingly. At the heart of the emotion recognition research done to this end lies the emotion representation that enables machines to learn and predict emotions. Speech emotion recognition studies use a wide range of low-to-high-level acoustic features for representation purposes such as LLDs their functionals and BoAW. In this paper we present a new method for extracting a novel set of high-level features for classifying emotions. For this purpose we (1) reduce the dimension of discrete-time speech signals (2) perform a quantization operation on the new signals and assign a distinct symbol to each quantization level (3) use the symbol sequences representing the signals to extract discriminative patterns that are capable of distinguishing different emotions from each other and (4) generate a separate set of features for each emotion from the extracted patterns. Experimental results show that pattern features outperform Energy Voicing MFCC Spectral and RASTA feature sets. We also demonstrate that combining the pattern-based features and the acoustic features further improves the classification performance.Article A Proposed Model for Employee Competencies in Hospitality 4.0 Talent Management: H4TM(INT JOURNAL CONTEMPORARY ECONOMICS & ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES, 2023) Ebru Esendemirli; Yucel Ozturkoglu; Ferika Ozer Sari; Ozturkoglu, Yucel; Sari, Ferika Ozer; Esendemirli, EbruPurpose of this study is to specify and prioritize the employee competencies in the context of key specialist jobs in lodging industry and to introduce a model as Hospitality 4.0 Talent Management. SevimEnergy is one of the main sources of economical and social developments. Energy demand is increasing day by day on both the global and national scale of many countries. The current energy paradigm is based on fossil fuels but fossil energy sources decrease day by day and go through to a death point. While this process happens fossil sources constitute the main source of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. At this point the usage and spread of renewable energy sources is taking a place on the agenda of many countries.Wind energy systems have a high learning curve value (92%) and when making a comparison between wind energy and other renewable energy systems according to cost and efficiency parameters wind energy systems are more preferable. At the end of 2010 global installed wind power was 194390 MW and 250 million tones CO2 emission was prevented with this installed power. The energy production paradigm of Turkey is based on thermal conventional technology. For that reason the CO2 emission level increased 102% according to 1990s value in Turkey and energy production-based CO2 emission ratio increaded to 92% in total CO2 emission value. The theoretical wind energy potential of Turkey is 48000 MW and nearly 62 million tones of CO2 emission could be prevented with this potential. The goals of this study are that given information about global and national CO2 emission levels we can make some explanation about the national trend of the wind energy market and describe a convenient action plan for the Turkish wind energy market.Article Citation - WoS: 8A SOCIAL MEDIA FRAMEWORK OF CULTURAL MUSEUMS(AKDENIZ UNIV, 2017) Gokce Ozdemir; Duygu Celebi; Ozdemir, Gokce; Celebi, DuyguMuseums are regarded as cultural products and the core attractions of a destination that offer cultural historical and artistic possessions for locals as well as tourists.
