Analyze the Green Supply Chain and Firm Performance: Evidence from Manufacturing Industry

Abstract

Successful implementation of green supply chain management provides an advantage in the market and further consolidates cooperation with supply chain management. Environmental concern is directly related to the operations and planning of the supply chain. Environmental regulations change the way in which supply chains are controlled or managed. Developing countries such as Pakistan are in the early stages of implementation of the green supply chain. Manufacturers in Pakistan know the importance of the effective Green Supply Chain and the competitive advantage they can achieve with it. However, the production units of smaller companies in particular have not worked in the environment before. Increasing environmental problems and high consumer expectations are creating social pressure on companies. This can be an advantage for companies by developing their own 'green' supply chain management process. This thesis focuses on the investigation of the effect of green supply chain management on Pakistani manufacturing companies. The companies have examined green supply chain practices and identified problems they have encountered. This work sheds light on the dark areas where companies need to work for manufacturing industries and people in the countries of the government, as well as providing operational benefits.

Yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetiminin başarılı bir şekilde uygulanması, pazarda bir avantaj sağlamakta ve tedarik zinciri yönetimi ile işbirliğini daha da pekiştirmektedir. Çevresel endişe, yapılan tedarik zinciri operasyonları ve planlaması ile doğrudan ilgilidir. Çevresel düzenlemeler, tedarik zincirlerinin kontrol edilme veya yönetilme şeklini değiştirmektedir. Pakistan gibi gelişmekte olan ülkeler yeşil tedarik zincirinin erken uygulama aşamalarındadır. Pakistan'daki imalat firmaları, etkin Yeşil Tedarik Zincirinin önemini ve bununla elde edebilecekleri rekabet avantajını bilmektedir. Ancak, özellikle daha küçük şirketler de ki üretim birimleri daha önce çevre konusunda çalışma yapmamışlardır. Artan çevresel sorunlar ve yüksek tüketici beklentileri, şirketler üzerindeki sosyal bir baskı oluşturmaktadır. Bu durum da şirketler kendilerine uygun 'Yeşil' tedarik zinciri yönetimi süreci geliştirerek avantaj sağlayabilirler. Bu tez, yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetiminin Pakistan imalat şirketlerine etkisinin araştırılmasına odaklanmaktadır. Sirketlerin, yeşil tedarik zinciri uygulamaları incelenmiş, karşılaştıkları sorunlar tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışma sonucunda, şirketlerin operasyonel fayda sağlamasının yanı sıra, imalat sanayilerinin ve hükümetin ülkelerindeki insanlar için çalışması gereken karanlık alanlara ışık tutmaktadır.
