Kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk endeksinin objektif verilerle ölçülmesi ve firma performansı ile ilişkisi

Abstract

The main purpose of the thesis is to create an index in order to meausre corporate social responsibility with objective data and to explain the relationship between corporate social repsonsibility and firm performance. According to the purpose, annual reports of manufacturer firms of Borsa İstanbul are used as main data which are categorized and CSR points calculated in respect to Corporate Social Responsibility Association of Turkey index. In order to analyze the relationship between corporate social responsibility and firm performance, correlation and regression analyzes are used in terms of different samples. Dividend yield, total debt rate and corporate social responsibility rate which is calculated by mentioned index are independent variables of the research model. On the other hand annual return on equity and market to book value ratio are dependent variables. As a result, corporate governance decisions have positive and sigfinicant effects to firm performance especially for the businesses involved in corporate governance index. Tezin amacı objektif verilerle kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk endeksi oluşturmak ve kurumsal sosyal sorumluluğun firma performansıyla nasıl bir etkileşim halinde olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaca yönelik Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören işletmeler arasında üretim firmaları seçilmiş, işletmelerin yıllık faaliyet raporları kullanarak Türkiye Kurumsal Sosyal Sorumluluk Derneği'nin oluşturduğu 5 kriterli endeksten faydalanılarak işletmelerin kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk notları hesaplanmıştır. Firma performansı ile kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk ilişkisini açıklayabilmek için ise kurumsal yönetim kararlarını temsilen bağımsız değişken olarak temettü verimi, kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk notu ve toplam borç oranı verilerinden, firma performansını temsilen bağımlı değişken olarak da yıllık hisse getirisi ve piyasa değeri – defter değeri oranı kullanılmış, korelasyon ve regresyon analizleriyle farklı örneklemlerle incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak kurumsal yönetim endeksine dahil işletmeler için kurumsal yönetim kararlarının firma performansı üzerinde pozitif ve olumlu etkiye sahip olduğu çıkarımı yapılmıştır.
