Article A new model for minimizing the electric vehicle battery capacity in electric\rtravelling salesman problem with time windows(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2021) Kazım Erdoğdu; KORHAN KARABULUT; Erdoğdu, Kazım; Karabulut, KorhanThe growing pollution in the environment and the negative shift in the global climate compel authorities\rto take action to protect the environment and human health. Transportation is one of the major contributors to this\renvironmental decay. The harmful gases released to the air by the vehicles using petroleum fuel increase each day. One\rof the solutions is to make a gradual transition to electric vehicles. A major part of manufacturing an electric vehicle\ris to produce an efficient electric motor and battery for it. Reducing the manufacturing and operating costs of these\rcomponents will result in reducing the overall costs of electric vehicles. In this study a new variant of the electric\rtravelling salesman problem with time windows (E-TSPTW) was proposed. The objective function of the problem is to\rminimize the required initial battery capacity of the electric vehicle. For this goal a new energy consumption model\rconsidering the load of the vehicle was proposed with three scenarios. The proposed model was solved with a hybrid\rsimulated annealing algorithm for all these scenarios. The performance of the proposed method was compared to the\rsolutions found by a mixed integer linear programming model. The experimental results on the benchmark instances\rshow that up to a 35% reduction in initial battery capacity hence reduction in its cost is possible.\rArticle Citation - WoS: 1A Quantitative Study On The Female And Male Employees' Expectations From Management When Coping With Stress(ESKISEHIR OSMANGAZI UNIV FAC EDUCATION, 2014) Vesile Ayca Yamuc; Duygu Turker; Turker, Duygu; Özmen, Duygu Türker; Yamuç, Vesile AyçaStress which can be constructive in a certain degree becomes a problem that threatens the physiological and psychological health of individuals depending on the increasing competitiveness in the organizations. Although the literature provides a significant knowledge on the antecedents and consequences of organizational stress there is no sufficient information about what employees expect from their management when coping with stress. In order to fill this void this study first reviews the organizational strategies in the literature and then the employees' expectations from their management during this process were analyzed on a sample of 42 whitecollar female and male workers in a manufacturing firm in Izmir Ataturk Organize Sanayi Bolgesi (IAOSB) with following a semi-structured interview methodology. The results of study reveal that employees expect strategies regarding with their job identification reducing the level of conflict implementation of a fair payment policy etc.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 1⊕-co-coatomically supplemented and co-coatomically semiperfect modules(HACETTEPE UNIV FAC SCI, 2018) Rafail Alizade; Serpil Gungor; Alizade, Rafail; Gungor, SerpilIn this paper it is shown that a factor module of an circle plus-co-coatomically supplemented module is not in general circle plus-co-coatomically supplemented. If M is circle plus-co-coatomically supplemented and U is a fully invariant submodule of M then M/U is circle plus-co-coatomically supplemented. A ring R is left perfect if and only if R-(N) is an circle plus-co-coatomically supplemented R-module. A projective module M is co-coatomically semiperfect if and only if M is circle plus-co-coatomically supplemented. A ring is semiperfect if and only if every finitely generated free R-module is co-coatomically semiperfect.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 7Discriminant-based bistability analysis of a TMG-induced lac operon model supported with boundedness and local stability results(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2016) Levent Cavas; Neslihan Avcu; Hakan Alyuruk; Güleser Kalaycı Demir; Cüneyt GÜZELİŞ; Ferhan PEKERGİN; Pekergin, Ferhan; Demir, Güleser Kalayci; Guzelis, Cuneyt; Kalayci Demir, Guleser; Cavas, Levent; Avcu, Neslihan; Alyuruk, HakanThis paper presents the results of a theoretical and numerical study on the analysis of bistable behavior of the most studied gene regulatory network the lac operon in terms of the model parameters. The boundedness of the state variables for the considered model are demonstrated the parameter values providing the existence of the multiple equilibria and thus the bistable behavior are determined and a local stability analysis of the equilibria is performed. The parameter region yielding the existence of multiple equilibria is determined in an algebraic way based on discriminants. The model given in the state equation form is defined by the ordinary differential equations with the rational right-hand sides constituted within Hill and Michaelis Menten approaches based on enzyme kinetics. The presented method can also be used in the parametric studies of other gene regulatory and metabolic networks given by state equations with rational right hand sides.Article European Identity and the Myth of the Peace Project(ANKARA UNIV EUROPEAN UNION RESEARCH CENTRE, 2019) Defne Gunay; Gunay, DefneThe extent to which European identity is accepted by the Europeans in comparison with national identities and what European identity means are topics that are analyzed in the European integration literature. This study uses Eurobarometer data to analyze how much the European identity is endorsed after the Eurozone crisis and how the European institutions aim to define Europeanness. Through critical discourse analysis of the State of the European Union speeches delivered by the President of the European Commission this study demonstrates that Europe as a peace project myth is central in their attempts to render European identity valuable in the eyes of the Europeans.Article Citation - WoS: 5Evaluation of Stadium Locations Using AHP and TOPSIS Methods(ESKISEHIR OSMANGAZI UNIV FAC EDUCATION, 2020) Ugur Orhan Karakopru; Ozgur Kabadurmus; Karakopru, Ugur Orhan; Kabadurmus, OzgurWith the industrialization of sports stadiums started to mean more than a venue for playing games. Therefore choosing the best location for a stadium is an important problem for sports clubs. In this paper a two-step hierarchical multi-criteria decision-making model has been developed to evaluate stadium locations. In the first step Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been used to determine the criteria weights. In the second step TOPSIS has been used to evaluate the alternatives. Four main criteria have been identified to evaluate alternatives: (1) stadium capacity (2) construction cost (3) accessibility and (4) distances. As a case study the proposed model has been applied to three new stadium constructions in Izmir Turkey.Article Citation - WoS: 33Citation - Scopus: 37EXERGETIC EXERGOECONOMIC AND SUSTAINABILITY ASSESSMENTS OF PISTON-PROP AIRCRAFT ENGINES(TURKISH SOC THERMAL SCIENCES TECHNOLOGY, 2012) Onder Altuntas; T. Hikmet Karakoc; Arif Hepbasli; Altuntas, Onder; Hepbasli, Arif; Karakoc, T. HikmetIn this study the exergetic exergoeconomic and sustainability aspects of piston-prop aircraft engines are comprehensively reviewed. These analysis and assessment tools are applied to a four-cylinder spark ignition naturally aspirated and air-cooled piston-prop aircraft engine in the landing and takeoff (LTO) phases of flight operations. LTO consists of four parts: takeoff climb out approach and taxi. The results of energy analysis indicate that takeoff is a phase requiring high power with a maximum work rate of 111.90 kW. Maximum fuel energy and exergy rates are calculated to be 444.30 kW and 476.51 kW respectively. The minimum total loss is found in the taxi phase while maximum energy and exergy efficiency values are 26.76% and 24.95% in the climb out phase respectively. Based on the results of the cost analysis the taxi has the maximum exergy destruction cost rate with 23.41 $/h at a fixed production and 2.96 $/h at a fixed fuel. Maximum sustainability index (SI) is found to be 1.332 at the climb out phase.Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 7Extreme Appraisals of Internal States and Duration of Remission in Remitted Bipolar Patients(AVES, 2015) Ahmet Tosun; Zeynep Mackali; Ozlem Cagin Tosun; Aycan Kapucu Eryar; Warren Mansell; Kapucu Eryar, Aycan; Mansell, Warren; Cagin Tosun, Ozlem; Tosun, Özlem Çağın; Mackali, Zeynep; Kapucu, Aycan; Tosun, AhmetIntroduction: To identify dysfunctional attitudes seen in bipolar disorder (BPD) is important for the cognitive theories of BPD and corresponding psychosocial interventions. Cognitions are seen as vulnerability factors in the development and maintenance of BPD. The present study aims to contribute to the cognitive literature on BPD by examining depressive and hypomanic attitudes and their contribution to the prediction of BPD diagnosis as well as by exploring the relationship between dysfunctional cognitions and clinical features (types of episodes experienced duration of illness and duration of remission). Methods: One hundred and eighteen remitted bipolar patients and 103 healthy controls completed the Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) Turkish Brief-Hypomanic Interpretations and Positive Predictions Inventory (HAPPI) and Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale. Results: The bipolar group had significantly higher depressive and hypomanic attitudes than the control group. No significant differences were found regarding the types of episodes experienced and duration of illness. However both types of attitudes decreased as the duration of remission increased. They were also found to contribute to the prediction of bipolar diagnosis together with the screening of the MDQ. Conclusion: The results pointed out that dysfunctional cognitions may be utilized as possible indicators for the risk of relapse in clinical groups and vulnerability for BPD among other populations.Article INTERTEXTUALITY AND THE LEADING ROLE OF MUSIC IN VISCONTI'S FILM DEATH IN VENICE(ANADOLU UNIV, 2017) Asli Giray Akyunak; Giray Akyunak, Asli; Akyunak, Aslı GirayItalian film director Luchino Visconti and his anthropomorphic films took into account the passionate and consuming nature of humans and mostly chose defeated heros as their main characters. In his film Death in Venice (1971) adapted from Thomas Mann's short novel of the same name (1912) he tells the story of the death of an artist and its relation to the closure of an era at the fin de siecle. The film constructs a web of intertextual relations and quotations from cultural history literature and music. Visconti's choice of non-diegetic music for the film is Mahler's third and fifth symphonies. This is no coincidence that Mahler and the main character Gustav von Aschenbach have many things in common. Mahler's music represents the life spiritual state and inner voice of Aschenbach hence playing a leading role in the film. The dichotomies and ambiguities in the film can also be traced in Mahler's music adding to the power and effect of the narration. This study examines intertextuality in Visconti's masterpiece and aims to provide a different perspective on the use of music in film.Article Land Grab Processes in Romania and Bulgaria: A Historical Continuity Perspective(ULUSLARARASI ILISKILER KONSEYI DERNEGI, 2018) Nazif Mandaci; Mandacı, NazifAlthough they are positioned in the periphery of the Western economic core Romania and Bulgaria are different from the Third World countries that were exploited and colonized by the Western powers in the preceding centuries where currently land grab processes are at work. However it is observed that because of their geographical and political standings those countries are also influenced by the ongoing global land grab processes albeit in different ways. The externalities of processes of enclosure primitive accumulation or accumulation by dispossession as defined in general by the critical literature have continued to inflict particularly small landholders as did in other societies in different parts of the world. However upon their accession to the European Union land grab processes in those countries entered into a new historical phase discerned by incoming new actors such as equity fundsand the unique dynamics such as the transformation of land into a speculative asset and an energy source.Article On generalized derivations of incline algebras(Hacettepe Univ, FAC Sci, 2014) ŞULE AYAR ÖZBAL; Alev FİRAT; Ozbal, Sule Ayar; Firat, AlevIn this paper as a generalization of derivation of an incline algebra thenotion of generalized derivation in an incline algebra is introduced andsome of its properties are investigated in an incline and integral inclinealgebra.Article THE USE OF THE SOSTENUTO PEDAL ON THE PIANO(ANADOLU UNIV, 2019) Esra Kalkanoglu Mamac; Mamaç, Esra Kalkanoğlu; Kalkanoglu Mamac, EsraThe use of the piano pedals has an utmost importance when performing. Even if it is not written on the score it is necessary to use the pedals to create the sounds and the effects which the performer aim to achieve. Composers and performers who seek their own way of interpretation in making music may utilize the pedals to realize this. This study presents ideas for the use of the sostenuto pedal a less known pedal than the other ones.Article Citation - WoS: 1Turkey's Public Diplomacy Initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa(EGE UNIV FAC ECONOMICS & ADMIN SCIENCES, 2018) Elem Eyrice Tepeciklioglu; Ali Onur Tepeciklioglu; Betul Aydogan Unal; Ünal, Betül Aydoğan; Tepecıklıoglu, Elem Eyrıce; Eyrice Tepeciklioglu, Elem; Tepeciklioğlu, Ali Onur; Aydogan Unal, BetulPublic diplomacy initiatives occupy a central place in Turkey's recent foreign policy approach. In its efforts to increase Turkey's say in world politics and to deepen relations especially with the previously-neglected regions including Africa the incumbent government attaches great importance to public diplomacy activities. This study aims at systematically analyzing how Turkey uses these activities in Sub-Saharan Africa in order to achieve its foreign policy objectives. In this respect public diplomacy strategies used in enhancing Turkey's image and visibility in those countries and in influencing the preferences of their public have been classified as short medium and long term activities. Although there is a still-evolving literature on Turkey's Africa policy the studies focusing on public diplomacy instruments is limited. This study therefore seeks to fill this gap in the extant literature by adopting an established classification approach used in measuring the effectiveness of public diplomacy activities.Article Weak solutions of a hyperbolic-type partial dynamic equation in Banach spaces(HACETTEPE UNIV FAC SCI, 2015) Ahmet Yantir; Duygu Soyoglu; Yantir, Ahmet; Soyoglu, DuyguIn this article we prove an existence theorem regarding the weak solutions to the hyperbolic-type partial dynamic equation z(Gamma Delta)(x y) = f(x y z(x y)) x(x 0) = 0 z(0 y) = 0 x is an element of T-1 y is an element of T-2 in Banach spaces. For this purpose by generalizing the definitions and results of Cichon et. al. we develop weak partial derivatives double integrability and the mean value results for double integrals on time scales. DeBlasi measure of weak noncompactness and Kubiaczyk's fixed point theorem for the weakly sequentially continuous mappings are the essential tools to prove the main result.Article Citation - WoS: 3Would 100 Global Workshops on Theory Building Make A Difference?(CENTER FOREIGN POLICY & PEACE RESEARCH, 2018) Knud Erik Jorgensen; Jorgensen, Knud Erik; Jørgensen, Knud ErikThe paper rests on the assumption that theoretical knowledge is valuable. However such an assumption cannot be taken for granted. Indeed the first objective is to examine the comparative advantages of theoretical knowledge. Second if 100 theory building workshops would make a difference what exactly would the difference be? After all movie production is said to be dominated by Hollywood but Bollywood produces more movies than Hollywood. Nonetheless the world market is dominated by Hollywood. Hence if a distinction between academic domestic and global markets is applied theory building for a number of domestic or regional markets might impact 'consumption' patterns in domestic or regional markets but not necessarily the world market. Moreover the apparent need for 100 workshops rests on the assumption that the IR discipline is under American hegemony but this assumption is severely challenged by empirical research showing that American hegemony remains a fact in institutional terms but not in terms of theoretical fads and debates being followed in the rest of the world. In short intellectual global hegemony is largely a chimera. Finally the paper argues that 100 workshops might be necessary but could turn out to be waste of time and for two reasons. While theorizing a bygone world is fine the workshops should address contemporary issues and be future-oriented. Furthermore the workshops should contribute to redefine the (contested) core of the discipline.
