Changing face of banks and the evaluation of internet banking in Turkey
(2009) Bora Aktan; Edip Teker; Pervin Ersoy; Aktan, Bora; Teker, Edip; Ersoy, Pervin
Banking historically has been a sector based on individual or institutional client service. In today's browser-based competitive finance world banks need to flourish this client service viewpoint with web-empowered features for keeping clients and attracting prospective ones. Internet has emerged as a key competitive field for the future of financial services. In a sense it is almost synonymous with change. Banks especially commercial ones are swiftly becoming more aware of the importance of internet banking in this era. This topic was selected to dilate the current developments and implications of internet banking in Turkey which has been repeatedly cited as an emerging market with its growing sectors over the period 2005 and 2008. © Bora Aktan Edip Teker and Pervin Ersoy 2009. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. Impact of information hiding on circular food supply chains in business-to-business context
(ELSEVIER SCIENCE INC, 2021) Sachin Kumar Mangla; Gulmus Boruhan; Pervin Ersoy; Yigit Kazancoglu; Malin Song; Song, Malin; Börühan, Gülmüş; Kumar Mangla, Sachin; Ersoy, Pervin; Kazancoglu, Yigit; Mangla, Sachin Kumar
This study has analyzed food supply chains from the circular economy viewpoint with a focus on knowledge hiding. In this paper we examine the practice of hiding knowledge among stakeholders in which dimension what this knowledge is and whether there are differences among specific groups of stakeholders. This is applied to distributors producers consumers retailers suppliers and farmers working within the meat industry in Turkey. It shows how information hiding affects the traceability of food supply chains and circularity in the meat industry. Three different theories have been examined in this paper. Stakeholder theory helps to analyze traceability of food supply chains among stakeholders, the theory of industrial symbiosis aims to achieve an efficient circular food supply chain through 9R (refuse rethink reduce reuse repair refurbish remanufacture repurpose recycle recover) strategies by adopting traceability, the information theory is a key enabler to coordinate traceability from farm to fork to support a circular food supply chain. By using the theoretical lens this paper sets out proposals for policymakers and managers in food supply chains to ensure traceability and transparency to achieve circular economy. Although some prior studies address knowledge hiding information hiding hasn't been examined with traceability and transparency dimensions in Circular Food Supply Chain (CFSC) in B2B business. This study attempts to fill this gap in the literature improve theoretical understanding with our proposed framework and validating the impact of information hiding and reveal where knowledge is mostly hidden in terms of circular economy stakeholders and 9Rs in the meat industry. A proposed framework for managers and policymakers based on a circular economy can bring social economic and environmental benefits for the red meat industry in Turkey. Additionally it offers a framework and recommendations for other countries and industries for possible adoption.

Sürdürülebilir üretimde enerji yönetim sisteminin rolü: Sürdürülebilir kalkınma hedefleri ve tedarik zinciri stratejileri ile bütünleşik bir yaklaşım
    (2025) Hezarfen, Didem; Ersoy, Pervin
The collaboration on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Energy Management System is essential for achieving sustainable production and future sustainability objectives. By providing a systematic way to measure, control, and minimize energy use, EnMS contributes to financial gains in terms of increasing efficiency and reducing costs, as well as environmental gains in terms of issues affecting our future. Sustainable manufacturing is the process of creating products with minimal negative effects on the environment and the optimum benefits for the economy and society. Involving the supply chain in sustainability processes strengthens these effects and creates stronger sustainable industrial networks. The integrated approach that emerges with strategically implemented energy management systems, sustainable production, and supply chain sustainability is essential for realizing sustainable development goals. This study aims to draw attention to the connection between energy management system and sustainability goals and to develop strategies for supply chains of manufacturing companies. For this purpose, a case study of the energy management system process implemented in anonymized manufacturing facility in Turkey, was used. This study reveals the need for an integrated approach with the energy management system in terms of sustainable supply chain and production process efficiency of manufacturing companies.

Since the day first case was reported in Wuhan Covid-19 pandemic has been greatly transforming our lives as well as our economic activities. Due to the lockdowns many businesses closed their doors forever while some others experienced unpredictable growth. Online retail is among the areas that has seen the greatest growth. Understanding the elements that contribute to success and survival of companies during the pandemic era and utilizing these elements to improve service quality crucial for any business. It is no secret that logistics operations also played and still plays a big role in mitigating the damage dealt by the pandemic. Therefore logistics service quality is as important as the overall service quality. In this study the service quality elements that play a role in success are discussed. Then the online retailers operating in Turkey are evaluated on the basis of these service quality elements. For this study a survey was conducted with 160 participants and the data gathered was then analyzed with regression analysis. The results indicate that logistics service quality (LSQ) physical distribution service quality (PDSQ) and response to costumer (RTC) elements play a significant role in ensuring survival and even success of companies during the pandemic. © 2022 Elsevier B.V. The effect of user manual quality on customer satisfaction: the mediating effect of perceived product quality
(Emerald Group Holdings Ltd., 2019) Osman Gök; Pervin Ersoy; Gülmüş Börühan; Börühan, Gülmüş; Gök, Osman; Ersoy, Pervin
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the elements of user manual quality and its influences on perceived product quality and customer satisfaction in an integrated model structure. Design/methodology/approach: Survey method was used to evaluate user manual quality and its influences on perceived product quality and customer satisfaction. Electrical appliances consumers were chosen in our sample. Factor analysis and structural equation modeling were performed to introduce test and validate the user manual quality dimensions and also test the hypotheses. Findings: The findings show a positive significant relation between user manual quality and perceived product quality and this result demonstrates that consumers perceive user manual quality as a part of their quality evaluation related to the product. The results point out that user manual quality is essential for both low- and high-value products regarding customer satisfaction. The findings also reveal that perceived product quality mediates the influence of user manual quality on customer satisfaction. Practical implications: This study reveals that providing a high-quality user manual should be an essential element of product management and development strategies. The findings also highlight the need for companies that particularly sell complex products with long product life cycles must invest in providing high-quality user manuals. This will enhance perceived product quality and in turn customer satisfaction. Originality/value: Although some prior studies address user manuals in the relevant literature these studies did not examine the elements of user manual quality and their impact on consumers’ perceptions of the product quality and their satisfaction evaluations in a research model. This paper attempts to fill this gap in the literature. In addition the authors found two major dimensions of user manual quality as content-related elements and representational/format-related elements of the user manual. © 2021 Elsevier B.V.
