The Death of Yugoslavia belgeselinde gerçeklik ve bakış açısı / Reality and perspective in "The Death of Yugoslavia"

Abstract

Gerçeği yansıtma gayesi ile yapılan belgesel, gerçek yaşamdan seçtiği olay örgüsünü nesnel bir yaklaşımla ele alıp izleyicisine sunar. Her anlatı türünde olduğu gibi belgesel anlatısında da gerçeklik, yeniden inşa edilen bir süreçtir. Bakış açısı, belgeseldeki anlatıda gerçekliğin inşa edilmesinin temelini oluşturmakta, olayların kimin algısıyla ifade edildiğini belirlemekte ve kurgulanmış olan gerçekliği aktarmaktır. Dolayısıyla belgeselin mevcut gerçekliğe hangi açıdan baktığını göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada, BBC yapımı The Death of Yugoslavia belgeselinde gerçekliğin inşasında bakış açısının anlatı odağı üzerinden nasıl kurgulandığı araştırılmıştır. Belgeseldeki gerçeklik kurgusunun dış ses ve anlatıcı söylemleri üzerinden inşa edilebilmesi için Gerard Genette'in anlatı kuramından yararlanılmıştır. 1989-1996 yılları arasında Yugoslavya'nın çöküşüne sebep olan olaylar, iç savaşlar, uluslararası aktörlerin temsilcileri ve barış görüşmelerini anlatan belgeselde hem anlatıcılar hem de olay örgüsü anlatıcıların söylemleri üzerinden kodlanmıştır. Çalışmada toplanan verileri açıklayabilecek kavram ve ilişkilere ulaşabilmek adına içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucu elde edilen bulgulara göre belgeselin genelindeki bakış açısı, Yugoslavya'nın dağılma sürecinde aktif rol oynayan cumhuriyetlerin siyasi liderleri üzerinden kurgulanmıştır. Belgeseldeki bakış açısına göre Yugoslavya krizi iç aktörlerin temsilcileri arasında yaşanmış; ABD'nin devreye girmesi ile son bulmuştur. The documentary, made with the aim of reflecting the truth, takes an objective approach to the event pattern chosen from real life and presents it to its audience. As with every narrative genre, reality in documentary narrative is a reconstructed process. The point of view forms the basis of the construction of reality in the narrative in the documentary, determining whose perception of events is expressed, and conveying the reality that has been fictionalized. So it shows what perspective the documentary looks at the current reality. In this work, the BBC documentary The Death of Yugoslavia explored how perspective in the construction of reality is fictionalized through the narrative focus. Gerard Genette's narrative theory has been used to construct reality fiction in the documentary through external voice and narrative discourses. The documentary chronicles the events that led to the collapse of Yugoslavia between 1989-1996, civil wars, representatives of international actors and peace talks, both narrators and the plot of events are coded through the narrators ' discourses. Content analysis was carried out in order to reach concepts and relationships that could explain the data collected in the study. According to the findings of the analysis, the documentary's overall perspective was based on the political leaders of the republics that played an active role in the break-up of Yugoslavia. According to the documentary's perspective, the Yugoslav crisis took place between representatives of the internal actors and ended with the introduction of the United States.
