Borsa istanbul'da bedelsiz sermaye artırım duyurularının hisse senedi getirilerine etkileri üzerine bir analiz / An analysis on the effect of stock split announcements on stock returns in Borsa İstanbul

Abstract

Bu çalışmada 2015 – 2017 yılları arasında Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören şirketlerin bedelsiz sermaye artırımı duyurularının hisse senedi getirilerine etkileri olay çalışması yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analiz için olay pencereleri, bedelsiz sermaye artırım duyurusunun yapıldığı günden önceki 5 gün ile bedelsiz sermaye artırım duyurusunun yapıldığı günden sonraki 5 gün olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre bedelsiz sermaye artırım duyurusundan sonra istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde anormal getiri elde etmek mümkün değildir. Sadece duyuru günüde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ortalama anormal getiri gözlenmiştir. Bu gözlem yarı-güçlü piyasa etkinliğiyle tutarlıdır. Bununla birlikte bedelsiz sermaye artırımı duyurusunun yapıldığı gün ve sonraki günlerde ortalama kümülatif anormal getiri gözlenmiştir. In this study, the effects of the announcements of stock splits to stock returns in Borsa İstanbul between 2015-2017 are analyzed using event study methodology. For the analysis, the event window is determined as 5 days before and 5 days after the announcement of the stock splits. The findings of the research suggests that it is not possible to obtain statistically significant abnormal returns after the announcements. Consistent with semi-strong form efficiency, statistically significant abnormal returns are observed only in announcement date. Additionally, statistically significant cumulative abnormal returns are observed on the day of and after the announcement.
