1960 sonrası Türkiye'de sanat ve siyaset ilişkisi: Bedri Baykam'ın siyasi kimliğinin sanatsal pratiğine yansıması

Abstract

In general, modern period is characterized by big ruptures, transformations and turmoil in social, political and artistic domains. The long-standing relationship between art and politics is reflected in the productions of artists who were subjected to prohibitions and self-censorship due to the ever increasing dominant role of political powers and religious authorities in the dominant of art. In this study, the interactions between political and artistic agents, and the effects and transformations that political discourses and trends in post-1960s Turkey created is dealt with in parallel with their counterpart developments in the West. Though there are recent studies carried out concerning the relationship between art and politics in Turkey, there is a lack of study focusing on a single artist in the mentioned context. In this sense, the present study focuses on Bedri Baykam who has been active both in art and politics in Turkey and on his place in local and international plane.

Modern dönem genel anlamda siyasi, sanatsal ve toplumsal alanlarda büyük kırılma, dönüşüm ve çalkantılarla nitelenir. Uzun ve köklü bir geçmişe dayanan sanat ve siyaset ilişkisi; siyasal erkin ve dinsel otoritenin sanat ortamındaki baskın rolünün giderek artmasıyla oto-sansür ve yasaklamalara maruz kalan sanatçıların üretimlerinde de yansımasını bulmuştur. Bu çalışmada, 1960 sonrası Türkiye'de sanat ve siyaset öznelerinin birbirleriyle olan etkileşimi, siyasi eğilimlerin ve söylemlerin sanat alanında yarattığı etkiler ve dönüşümler, Batı'daki gelişmelere paralel olarak ele alınmaktadır. Türkiye'de sanat-siyaset ilişkisi üzerine güncel çalışmalar bulunsa da, tek bir sanatçı üzerine yoğunlaşan çalışma eksikliği söz konusudur. Bu bağlamda elinizdeki çalışma Türkiye'de hem sanat hem de politikada etkin bir figür olan Bedri Baykam'ı ve onun yerel ve uluslararası düzlemdeki yerini odağına almaktadır.
