Project of Differentiated Instruction of Turkish as a Foreign Language at a Distance

Abstract

The aim of the project is to develop a distance education system, which offers differentiated content according to individual differences and learner readiness for teaching Turkey Turkish as a foreign language. Within the scope of the project, a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) was designed, developed and delivered via https://turkish.yasar.edu.tr/. In the system, there are 53 modules, dictionary of rules and vocabulary, forum and virtual meeting application. In each module, there are variety of activities such as a video lecture, a real-life drama, listening, writing, pronunciation and reading activities as well as games in addition to English, Arabic, Russian and French language support. The project is limited to A1 basic level, and it is also supported by TUBITAK with code 115K270. The aim of this study is to share the experience, which was gained during the design and development phase, with the practitioners and researchers in the field.

Proje ile Türkçenin dünya genelinde öğretilmesinde bireysel farklılıklarıgöz önünde bulunduran ve öğrenenin hazırbulunuşluğuna göre farklılaşan biruzaktan öğretim sistemi oluşturulmasını hedeflenmektedir. Proje 115K270 kodu ileTÜBİTAK tarafından desteklenmektedir. Proje kapsamında Türkçenin yabancı dilolarak uzaktan farklılaştırılmış öğretimine yönelik bir kitlesel çevrimiçi açık ders(Massive Open Online Course: MOOC) oluşturulmuştur. Konular, uzaktan eğitimfelsefesine uygun şekilde tasarlanmıştır. Sistemde 53 bölüm, kurallar sözlüğü,kelime sözlüğü, forum ve sanal toplantı uygulaması bulunmaktadır. Her bölümdeders anlatım videosu, gerçek yaşamla konuyu ilişkilendiren drama videosu, dinleme,yazma, telaffuz ve okuma etkinliklerinin yanı sıra oyunlar yer almaktadır. Sistemdeİngilizce, Arapça, Rusça ve Fransızca dil desteği sunulmuştur. Proje, tasarım tabanlıaraştırma yaklaşımı ile yürütülmekte olup, A1 düzeyi ile sınırlıdır. Şuanda pilotuygulama aşamasında olan sistem yayına sunulmuştur 1 . Bu çalışmada Türkçeninyabancılara uzaktan öğretimi konusunda elde edilen deneyimler ile sistem tasarımsüreçlerinin uygulamacı ve araştırmalarla paylaşılması hedeflenmekte, alana katkısağlanması amaçlanmaktadır.
