Abstract
This study aims to determine the necessary processes to improve warehouse operations using lean principles while considering important criteria of efficient warehouse management in a meat producer company. In order to identify problem areas Spaghetti Diagram has been prepared and company warehouse operations have been analyzed. In the company problems observed in warehouse operations are mainly unnecessary handling and layout problems in the warehouse. In order to handle the problems Value Stream Mapping and Multi-Criteria ABC Analysis methods have been employed. With the help of Value Stream Mapping lean principles can be adopted in the warehouse operations. On the other hand Multi-criteria ABC analysis can guide the company in product placements in the correct location. At the end of this study suggestions have been proposed for the company to reduce wastes improve several processes in the warehouse. © 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
