Abstract

The most important sea caves of Turkey are found on the Alanya Peninsula. One of these caves formed by sea erosion is Damlatas Cave. The cave is situated on the west coast of the peninsula 100 m from the coast. The entrance to the cave is a few meters above the water and was formed within semi-crystalline limestone of the Permian Period. It was shaped by erosion over thousands of years and discovered accidently in 1948 (Aygen 1984). © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
