    A. Schnittke'nin 1. Çello Sonatının ses alanlarının incelenmesi
    (2017) Kocaman, Deniz; Usta, Özge
Before studying the violoncello sonata Alfred Schnittke wrote in 1978; his life, the composers that influenced him, and how the way he was influenced shaped his composition language have been researched by using the historical method, and in consideration of the data obtained on polystylism during the literature search, which methods and styles were used in his violoncello sonata and how they were combined have been determined. The fact that having only theoretical knowledge doesn't make a person a composer has lead us to ask 'how do composers make use of this theoretical background?'. Surely, this study itself cannot answer this question. However, it at least has tried to shed light on one of the combinations. In the first chapter, the information has been given about Schnittke's life and comprehension on his insight of composing. And in the second chapter, the pitch spaces used in the violoncello sonata have been studied in the light of this information.
