    Fuzzy Logic Supported Tracking of Elderly People Moving Away From Living Space

    Elderly people living alone at home may need to move away from their homes when they carry out their daily activities. In some cases they may have difficulty remembering the location they came from in order to return home again. In order to prevent elderly people from getting lost if they move a certain distance away from the area where they live their location can be determined with the support of technological opportunities. Thanks to wearable device technologies relatives of elderly people can easily access their locations with the support of mobile applications. In this study by using Internet of things devices and Fuzzy logic algorithm a system that provides a warning on the mobile application used by the relatives if the elderly person moves away from the living area at a certain distance was proposed. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.     Solar IoT: Monitoring the Orientation and Electrical Parameters of the Solar Panel

    In recent years the use of solar energy from renewable energy sources has been increasing. Solar energy can be used directly for electricity and heat generation as well as for small-scale use in smart cities such as traffic lights city lighting vehicle charging stations. The Internet of Things enables remote monitoring and control of solar energy systems diagnosis of faults that may occur in the system and increasing system efficiency. The energy production of the system can be monitored depending on the time of day and if solar tracking systems are applied tracking angles can be monitored too. In this study the electrical parameters of a solar panel such as voltage current values orientation of the solar panel and the light intensity in the outdoor environment were recorded in the cloud storage area by sensors. The data obtained from all sensors are evaluated and preprocessed by the microcontroller. These collected data are transferred to comparable graphs under two different light intensities. The proposed work is an example of an application that if scaled up can be used in monitoring larger-scale systems where solar panels can be grouped in series and parallel. The novel contribution of the study is to evaluate the basic electrical parameters and orientation of solar panels together and to monitor the faults (voltage current solar tracking system induced faults) caused by these characteristics. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.     Development of a Novel Spherical Light-Based Positioning Sensor in Solar Tracking

    Tracking of the sun which increases the efficiency of solar energy production systems has shown considerable development in recent years. This development has been achieved by custom-positioned light sensors image cameras sensorless chronological systems and intelligent controller supported systems or by synergetic use of these systems. This study contributes to this research area with a novel spherical-based sensor which measures spherical light source emittance and localizes the light source. This sensor was built by using miniature light sensors placed on a spherical shaped three-dimensional printed body with data acquisition electronic circuitry. Besides the developed sensor data acquisition embedded software preprocessing and filtering processes were conducted on these measured data. In the study the outputs of Moving Average Savitzky-Golay and Median filters were used for the localization of the light source. The center of gravity for each filter used was determined as a point and the location of the light source was determined. The spherical sensor system obtained by this study is applicable for various solar tracking methods. The approach of the study also shows that this measurement system is applicable for obtaining the position of local light sources such as the ones placed on mobile or cooperative robots.

    Today one of the research areas where digital technologies are used and integrated most intensively is mechatronics engineering. Mechatronics engineering which is known as a combination of computer electronics and mechanical engineering provides flexibility quality and safety in production with a holistic and process-based perspective it brings to industrial production processes. The field of occupational health and safety is also responsible for the safety and health of employees in the workplace while trying to ensure safety and sustainability in production with its proactive understanding. It is seen that these two research areas meet at many common points. The quality and controllability of production provided by mechatronics engineering also contribute to the improvement of occupational safety conditions in workplaces. In the study mechatronics engineering and its contributions the evaluation of occupational health and safety in terms of engineering the intersection of mechatronics and occupational health and safety and exemplary operation are presented. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.     DÖRT ROTORLU UÇAN ROBOT DENGE VE YÖNELİM ANALİZİ İLE UYGULAMASI

    Bu çalışma dört rotorlu uçan robotun kontrolünü dengesini ve yönelim açılarını incelemektedir. Dört rotorlu uçan robot için test platformu geliştirilmiş ve kullanılmıştır. Uçan robota harici takılan Ataletsel Ölçüm Birimi (AÖB) yardımıyla alınan oryantasyon verileri kablosuz olarak bilgisayara taşınmaktadır. Taşınan veriler Matlab ve Python programlama dillerinde analiz edilmektedir. Böylece sistemin kumandadan aldığı hareket komutlarını çalıştırırken gösterdiği gerçek zamanlı davranışlar analiz edilmektedir. Uygulama için dokuz serbestlik derecesine sahip bir oryantasyon sensörü Xbee Explorer modülleri Walkera Ufo 5# dört rotorlu uçan robotu kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada dört rotorlu uçan robotun aç/kapa kontrolü de başarıyla tamamlanmıştır.
