Education has a valuable role to distribute sustainable approach to all subject fields like architecture. Sustainable development is gaining a central position in the conceptual framework of architectural education in universities. Universities are complex organizations that are frequently quite stable in the short term but inevitably evolving over the longer term in response to changes in the societies. At the moment there are various debates for changing non-renewable with more renewable and efficient architectural design strategies. Architectural Design has always attempted to merge the practicalities of engineering technology culture and economy with the subtle elements of interface social concerns and aesthetic desire. It has a crucial place for to engage with the sustainable strategies that provide countless environmental economic community health and safety benefits. The education of the students about opportunities risks benefits and scientific knowledge of sustainable approach provide valuable contribution towards integral relationships. The theory lessons concentrate mainly on climate thermal comfort materials and optimization of performance environment and energy fields. Curriculum knowledge and the teaching methods are connected with each other especially on the search for the innovative ideas. As innovative ideas emerge data available for the design process increases. However such new data cannot be integrated to the design education as desired by current conventional teaching methods in a reliable context. At some points this situation inhibits the creation of innovative ideas in architectural design. In order to acquire such data and to flourish a sustainable society accordingly fast and efficient access to knowledge databases is needed. In this study the research evaluates the current architectural education in Yasar University and suggests a proposal for the integration of theoretical courses and design studio under Sustainable Development.Article Sustainable Design in a Changing Climate: Resilience and Adaptation Strategies for Tourism’s Built Environment(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025) Bozkurt, ErayTourism simultaneously contributes to the causes of climate change and suffers from its consequences. While it supports global economies through employment, it faces growing risks from rising temperatures, extreme weather, and disrupted seasonal patterns. At the same time, tourism's built environment intensifies climate change through energy use emissions and waste impacts. The link between tourism, the built environment, and climate change has become a critical area of research, understanding the correlations between these factors and their implications. A mixed-methods review of peer-reviewed studies (2003-2025) reveals that 95% of examined tourism infrastructure lacks climate-adaptive building features, highlighting the urgency of sustainable retrofitting design solutions. This study provides a three-part analysis of sustainable design: (1) it identifies key sustainability and resilience strategies; (2) it explores the conceptual frameworks underpinning them; and (3) it assesses the barriers to implementation. Throughout, the analysis highlights how these elements advance integrated environmental, social, and economic outcomes. Yüzyıl Bornova Levantin köşklerinin mimari özelliklerini araştırmaktır. Bornova'da günümüze kadar ulaşabilen köşklerin yanında konut dışında başka işlevlere dönüştürülerek mimari özellikleri bozulmuş bir konut bölgesi bulunmaktadır.Zamanın ağır etkisi altında harap olan veya yıkılmış birçok konut yenilenmeyi beklemektedir. Bu yüzden, geçmiş döneme bu konutların sağlıklı bir yenileme geçirmeleri için mimari özelliklerini hakkında akademik çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.Araştırma, öncelikle 19. Yüzyıl dönemine ait Levanten konutlarının mimarı özelliklerini malzeme kullanımı, tasarım stratejileri ve tasarımını ilgilendiren önemli koşulları kapsamına almaktadır. Çalışma, iki akademik yaklaşıma ayrılmaktadır. Birinci yaklaşım geçmiş döneme ait kaynakların incelenmesi ve ikinci aşama ise tespit edilen sağlam köşkler ile ilgili vaka çalışması hazırlamaktır. Süreç boyunca hem nicelik hem de nitelik araştırma yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmayı yönlendirmek açısından araştırma sorusu ve ona ait detaylı sorular değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Seçilen altı eski konutlar ile ilgili vaka çalışması detaylı bir şekilde değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışma sayesinde, mevcut yapıların korunmasına faydası olması yanıda gelecekte düşünülmesi planlanan yenileme veya dönüştürme çalışmalarına katkı sağlaması düşünülmektedir. The aim of this research is to point out the failures of design education for the new age learners.Master Thesis Yaratıcı drama eğitim yönteminin temel tasarım stüdyosunda kullanılması(2016) Yorulmuş, Ezgi; Bozkurt, Eray20. yy. başlarında İngiltere ve Amerika başta olmak üzere yaratıcı drama öğretim teknikleri eğitim anlayışı olarak kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Yaratıcı drama eğitim ortamının çağın gereksinimlerini karşılamakta yetersiz olduğunun ortaya çıkmasıyla yaygınlaşmıştır. Yaparak ve yaşayarak öğrenme ilkesiyle öğrencinin daha aktif olarak var olduğu dramatik eğitimde, 'yaratıcılık, eleştirel düşünme yeteneği, iletişim ve problem çözme becerileri gelişimi, hayal gücü ve farkındalık düzeyi gelişimi, bireylerde grup planlaması, grupla uyum içerisinde çalışma ile yeni çözümler üretme yeteneği gelişimi ' gibi kazanımlar sağlamaktadır. Yaratıcı drama daha önce tasarım eğitiminin diğer disiplinlerinde kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı çeşitli disiplinler içerisinde eğitim ve eğitimi destekleyici yöntem olarak kullanılan yaratıcı drama ile sağlanan kazanımları incelemek ve temel tasarım stüdyolarında yaratıcı drama ile desteklenmiş programların öğrenciler üzerinde sağlanabilecek yaratıcılık ve yaratıcı düşünme ile tasarım becerilerini geliştirici kazanımları irdelemektir. Yapılan çalışmalar doğrultusunda araştırma ile Temel Tasarım Stüdyoların da tasarım konularının yaratıcı drama etkinlikleri ile desteklenerek daha verimli ve anlaşılır biçimde aktarılmasını ve bu doğrultuda öğrencilerin daha başarılı bir tasarım süreci deneyimlemelerinin sağlanması hedeflenmiştir. As a result, unplanned expansion is occurring in the city. Sprawl in the city attempts to create a balance between the different classes despite the growing income disparities. Due to in-migration from the interior of Punjab, the demand for housing is also increasing, so that the sprawl is increasing day by day. The city is facing major and complex challenges in managing its physical infrastructure due to unplanned expansion of housing estates in the outskirts of the city. The demand for housing in Lahore is high, but unfortunately there is not enough quality housing for all. As a result, people are forced to live in unacceptable conditions, colloquially known as Katchi Abadis. Since there is not enough space in the city to build new houses using traditional methods, other methods are needed. The aim of this research is to explore the region Katchi Abadi and critically examine the emerging problematic factors. The aim of this research is to investigate the role of Katchi Abadis in the urban fabric of Lahore. In this research, the unplanned built-up settlements are examined using different approaches. The whole study consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the study of Katchi Abadis, and the attitudes of the local people are determined through a survey. The second part will propose a model for housing construction adapted to local economic conditions. The second part will also include the situation of affordable cost, relevant recommendations and guidelines for the proposed solutions for the area Katachi Abadis based on the process of this research. In this research, all tangible and intangible factors that determine the physical morphology of Katchi Abadis are identified and presented. With the rising awareness of climate change impacts by both national and international bodies building climate resilience has become a major goal for many institutions. This influence began to find path in architectural design education. Architectural design education is mostly given in the design studios. Each semester the studio instructors prepare design briefs that need to be completed in a required period of time with given constraints. This is an opportunity for the design studios to adapt new theories and approaches like climate change into the design study. This article describes the experiences of the studio team after the design work proposed for climate. The study explains the transition from research to design stage. The studio tutors collected data after close observations on 42 students from Yasar University School of Architecture third year studio.
